Channel your inner mermaid (or merman!) We’ve partnered with Catalina Island Mermaids to design an experience just for you. Mermaids come in many forms – you might be a scuba diver, an artist, a swimmer, surfer, ocean lover…the list goes on!

Discover Your Mer-sona! Travel to a beautiful beach to transform into a Catalina Island Mermaid. Feel empowered by the whimsy a mermaid tail offers. Our professional photographers will help you capture the magic, so you can share it with the world!

While you won’t be in the water or swimming, be prepared to get splashed or have waves splash you! Arrive in your bathing suit (no changing rooms are available at the beach) and get ready to experience the magic!
We suggest wearing leggings or a swimsuit underneath your tail and having a change of dry clothes. While there are no lockers on the beach, we can keep our things within sight at all times so no mischievous fish will bother your belongings.
Photoshoots are for groups large and small, people of any age or size. If you have unique needs such as physical or mobility challenges, we’re here for you! Please just let us know and together we’ll make a plan that works for you. Our focus is centered around inclusivity and body positivity, ensuring that everyone is treated with respect, patience, empathy and kindness.
Reservations are required, but as photoshoots are available daily please call for same-day bookings as we can sometimes accommodate you. Private sessions are available!

What’s Included
- You’ll receive an online gallery with all of the RAW images. Edited photos are available for an additional fee. (Please see Pricing below.)
- Choose your own gorgeous Mermaid Tail and bring your top of choice. Mermaid Tail and Shell Bra upgrades are available in most sizes.
- Mermaids come in all shapes and sizes, so we have tails to fit most everyone from children’s sizes to adult 3XL/ 26.
- We’ll meet up at the famous Casino Building underneath the Mermaid Mural.
Pricing
- Prices start at $150 for the first mermaid, $75 for each additional mermaid
- Edited photos are available at $10 per edit, in groups of 3, 6, 12 or 24 edits.
- Up to 6 merfolk can participate in each session.
Discover Mermaid Experiences
Want to swim in a mermaid tail for the first time? This class is for you! When you’re a mermaid, you won’t feel like a visitor anymore – the ocean feels like home!
The Discover Mermaid experience is offered Memorial Day through Labor Day and introduces simple mermaid activities in a place with pool-like conditions, shallow enough in which to stand. It’s designed as a flexible, informative, enjoyable and controlled experience centered on letting you discover what it’s like to mermaid dive!

How it Works
- The Discover Mermaid class takes between 60 and 90 minutes to complete.
- We’ll meet up at the Via Casino Arch next to Step Beach in Avalon.
- Your class will be taught on Middle Beach, where you’ll be outfitted with a mask, snorkel and Mermaid Tail and given a safety briefing with a PADI Mermaid Instructor.
- This class happens in calm water, shallow enough to stand.
- Each class can accommodate up to 4 mermaids, so if you have a larger group please book back-to-back time slots and arrive all together.
- Larger groups will take turns getting in the water.
What’s Included
- After learning all your new mermaid skills we’ll take pictures and videos with a GoPro.
- You’ll receive all of your images and videos in an online gallery a few days after your Discover Mermaid experience.
- You’ll be provided with a gorgeous Mermaid Tail, but please bring your top of choice.
- Mermaids come in all shapes and sizes, so we have tails to fit most everyone from children’s sizes to adult 3XL/26.
What’s Required
- To enroll in a Discover Mermaid experience, you must be at least 6 years old.
- Participants with health concerns will be asked to have a physician sign a medical waiver before attending class.
