Accessibility for All

Accessibility is important to us. We have made every effort to make everything we do including our location, gear, policies, procedures and website accessible to all. If you think we’ve missed something, please call 310.510.6363 or contact Lisa directly and we’ll make it right. With us, scuba diving is open and welcoming to everyone.

Our Adaptive Diving Program

Catalina Accessibility - Adaptive Certification

Adaptive Certification

We believe in the art of possible: the PADI system is performance-based, meaning that we modify skill techniques to meet performance requirements by leveraging what individual students can do. Underwater, everyone is equal. It doesn’t matter that you have cognitive or developmental concerns, need support for stress and anxiety or have physical challenges.

Adaptive Scuba can help cope with Stress and Anxiety

Adaptive Diving Experiences

For certified divers, choose either a half or full day of private diving with any combination of dives, all led by an experienced local pro dedicated to you and your group. We’ll discuss any medical clearances you need.

For uncertified divers, call us to discuss Discover Scuba Diving experiences. Uncertified diving does require medical clearance and diving in the ocean your first time might not be a good fit. Let’s talk!

Gear

We have multiple options available to assist you in the practical aspects of scuba diving including a wide variety of sizes, mobility items, cold storage for medication and privacy solutions. Please contact us to discuss your unique needs.

Cancellation Policy

For Adaptive Diving certifications and experiences, our cancellation policy is more flexible. Please contact us about any changes to your
booking as soon as possible, and we’ll work with you.  Learn more

General

At Scuba by Design, we strive to ensure that our services are accessible to people with disabilities. We have invested a significant amount of resources to help ensure that its website is made easier to use and more accessible for people with disabilities, with the strong belief that website accessibility efforts assist all users and that every person has the right to live with dignity, equality, comfort and independence.

Accessibility on scubabydesign.com

We have integrated the UserWay Web Accessibility Widget which is powered by a dedicated accessibility server. The software allows us to improve our compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1).

Enabling the Accessibility Menu

The accessibility menu can be enabled by clicking the accessibility menu icon that appears on the bottom right corner of the page. After triggering the accessibility menu, please wait a moment for the accessibility menu to load in its entirety.

Disclaimer

We continue our efforts to constantly improve the accessibility of its site and services in the belief that it is our collective moral obligation to allow seamless, accessible and unhindered use also for those of us with disabilities. In an ongoing effort to continually improve and remediate accessibility issues, we also regularly scan our site with UserWay’s Accessibility Scanner to identify and fix every possible accessibility barrier on our site. Despite our efforts to make all pages and content fully accessible, some content may not have yet been fully adapted to the strictest accessibility standards. This may be a result of not having found or identified the most appropriate technological solution.
